  • Lausanne & Nyons! Vlog #4

To summarize our stay in Lausanne: Rain, fog, and cold! We only stayed there a few days, just enough to set up 2 pole dance photoshoots with 4 lovely ladies. One thing I didn't mention in the video is that we got kicked out of The Rolex learning center although we had an official authorization with us. Discussions took so long we lost nearly 3 hours that morning and had to move quickly to our 2nd location. Huge thanks to the Palais Rumine for not making this day a complete disaster. Shoutouts to the Blecherette airport and the Nyon Castle for letting us make our pictures. Still amazed by the efficiency of the Broncolor SIROS L. Adaptation, improvisation is key when shooting outdoors. With the SIROS L, I'm feeling confident on my shoots, cause I know I can face almost any type of situation. A more in-depth review in the real world will be uploaded soon. Here is this week's gallery, next stop will be in France... Lyon!

  • BMX flat photoshoot in Lyon! Vlog #5

This is kind of a way for me to get out of a creative slump...Explore new styles, new genres of photography. Most of the people that follow me are sticking around only for my dance photography. Although I still love working with ballerinas and contemporary dancers, I often feel I need to explore and try other things to avoid boredom. The opportunity to do so was given to me a few months mack during our stay in Lyon (France). Not one, but two BMX photoshoots! I hope this won't be the first and last time for me as I enjoyed working with these 2 athletes. I would love to experiment with a few other things with other extreme sports in a near future. The next stop will be in Torino (Italy)! Can't wait to share the beautiful photos we made there. Kevin Jacob Kevin Meyer

  • I Love Milan! Vlog #8 (part I)

2nd city in Italy, and probably our favorite! The food is fantastic, the city is beautiful, and we never bothered during our photoshoots. There was a strong military presence when we were there. I don't know if it's normal but I was afraid of getting into trouble, especially with the one we did just in front of the famous Duomo Di Milano and the pole dance shoot near the Arco della pace. Silvia Bonavigo - Duomo Di Milano Kimmy Street - Arco della pace We took our time and were able to make “almost” all the pictures we wanted. Check out the vlog right here: We work essentially with natural light with Kimmy. I had a flash with me but thought it wasn't necessary. The light was a bit harsh but it worked for most of our situations. Since it was my first outdoor session in the city, I wanted to be able to move and leave quickly (just in case) and we had to deal with the whole setup of the pole. Luckily her husband was there to give her a hand! 5:30 am... we almost did it at that time! Unfortunately, we forgot an important thing that morning. The metro isn't open that early. We managed to catch a bus and made it a bit late on location but our dancer of the day Silvia faced the same problem. A few minutes to set up and warm-up and we were good to go. Here are the 2 galleries, and guess what? Part II is already online: I Love Milan part II / Vlog #8 Silvia Bonavigo Kimmy Street

  • I Love Milan! Vlog #9 (part II)

Instead of visiting cities like regular tourists, we preferred making our vacation photos with performers! That's almost what we did so far. If you missed part I of our stop in Milan, check it out right now: I Love Milan part I / Vlog #8. We met Lavinia Scott for a more contemporary walk through Milan. The naviglio grande, The Porta Ticinese and the Colonne di San Lorenzo were on the menu that morning. The streets got busy pretty quickly so we had to work fast this time. I still took the decision to work with the Broncolor Siros L and the Beauty box 65 attached to it. Thanks to my loving partner and assistant, we were free to move, change our setup on the go really quickly. Lavinia Scott - Colonne di San Lorenzo Our 2nd rendezvous was the same day with a lovely duo from La Scala de Milan Vittoria and Claudio. We used the University of Milano for our shoot and were surprised to work there without any permission. Vittoria Valerio & Claudio Coviello - University of Milano A mix of natural light shots and off flash... I'll let you judge by yourself: Sorry for sharing these this late, I know that the Behind the scenes videos have been released for more than a month now. We worked a lot recently and had to find some time to edit the tons of pictures we made in the south of France! Again huge thanks to all these fantastic artists. You may have guessed it now, we are back in France for the next blog posts. Lavinia Scott Vittoria Valerio & Claudio Coviello

  • 1st accident on the road! Vlog #10

This maybe was our first step into the reality of living on the road. I wanted to do this beach photoshoot for a long time. It wasn't easy for us to find the right location in Toulon to catch the sunrise with a 2 strobes Boroncolor Siros L setup. An early bird shoot with Gymnast Candice Dupont, that was supposed to be epic... It had to happen someday, we never had any incident during the 3 years of development of this project. That morning, one of the Strobe fell headfirst with the Beautybox 65 modifier on it! A horrible scene that still gives chills and nightmares. My assistant made sure the first flash was securely fixed and stationery in the sand. The 2nd one was unattended for a few seconds and that's all it needed to be knocked out by the wind and hit the wet sand. The Beautybox is now literally unusable, and a bit of wet sand touched the battery. It took a few seconds for it to catch fire and burn into flames! Yes, we all know that batteries and water aren't a great combo, we had the demonstration. We decided to stay professional and continue the shoot with only one Strobe... But to be honest, I wasn't really into it. Although I dig some of the shots we made, gave the best I could, and Candice did a fantastic job, I hope we will have the opportunity to work in better conditions next time. We tested the flash afterward in Marseille, and it seemed fine. We even actually used it several times on other shoots... Unfortunately, (seems like luck is really not on our side) it randomly stopped working recently and we are now exclusively working with one light for the rest of our tour. Shit happens, but the show must go on, next stop is Marseille!

  • When health comes first! Vlog #11

So luck is definitely not on our side... If you don't know what I am talking about, I invite you to read my previous post: 1st Accident on the road. The south of France was supposed to be our main goal and priority destination. We're from Strasbourg, in the northeast of France, and we don't know anyone in the south of our country and nobody is waiting for us. So I was eager to meet artists and performers in that part of France and create images that would represent changes from the sceneries we know. Unfortunately for us, things didn't go as planned, we had to modify completely almost 2 months of traveling: Although I wasn't in the best shape, I still managed to set up a quick improvised shoot while visiting Marseille. At least we met this wonderful talented little lady... Ilia Gilbertas

  • This is the end, why we are ending the road-trip! Vlog #12

For this one, there is nothing I can add... The title sums it up! Just watch the video below... Of course, I am not quitting photography. Maybe these events are just an excuse to shake things up and start new projects...

  • Paris & Montpellier! Vlog #13

Dance, pole, and Gymnastics behind the scenes photoshoot These are the last episodes of the Vlog... If you missed my latest video you might not understand why I am writing this... So just in case, watch episode #12 ! Paris was first erased from our roadmap... We were not supposed to, but we changed our initial decision. Four cancelations and an aborted photoshoot inside le parc de la Villette made me regret that decision. These are the only pictures we managed to keep : Momo & Jade Fitzeroy / Parc de la Villette This year I will try to seek the positive in every situation. Fortunately for us, we got to meet a wonderful artist during our last day in the French capital... Miss Helena Moon: I had to go back to Strasbourg for my first exhibition. This may be old news for you as I have already shared a few images of this event in a previous vlog ( My first exhibition Vlog#7 ) . I couldn't miss the opportunity to see my work in huge prints! This was a unique experience and I really hope I will be able to make a sequel soon. With just enough time to celebrate this premier with friends and family, I and Marlène headed back to Montpellier to pursue our road trip. Once there, we had a Rendez-Vous with a familiar artist... Ex Gymnast, Ambre Chaboud: The Vlog will end with episode 16... We will still share an episode once a week until this final episode. I hope I will be able to give you more information on our upcoming projects in 2017! Until then, since this is our first post of 2017... Happy new year (again ! ), may all the goals that you have set for yourself in the near future attain success in the upcoming year itself.
